FREYA BROAD
Born and raised in the heART of the Scottish highlands, Freya weaves her deep passion for the medicine of Mother Earth, remembering the ancestral ways of Scotland, folk herbalism, ritual and Mama Cacao. Freya’s wandering spirit led her to experience many cultures and countries where in 2017 she met Ceremonial Cacao in Peru. Through her personal journey of healing mental and physical illness Freya began working with plant medicines and the support, wisdom and guidance of Mother Earth to bring the most profound and life changing healing. In 2021 founded her own heart and womb led business Sacred Roots Healing, recognising the powerful ability of the natural world to bring us back into our centre, to facilitate deep healing inviting us to stay in the heart and soften into the unconditional love of our earth mother. Freya created Sacred Roots Healing to rekindle that remembrance that we all have our own innate healing wisdom within us and connection to the Earth supports us in the journey back to our roots.
Freya’s mission is to empower others along this spiral path of healing. Combining wisdom from her own lived experience, passion for the land, and knowledge of medicinal plants and fungi. Remembering the Ancestral herbal wisdom of Scotland, weaving together the medicine of the heart Ceremonial Cacao.
Theobroma Cacao, has transformed Freya’s relationship to self, to her body and the world around her. Allowing her to be present in the moment and lead from the temple of the heart. Ceremonial Cacao facilitates deep healing for Freya’s C-PTSD, supporting safe presence in the body to meet trapped emotions and energies, opening the heart space and holding herself in a space of love and compassion. The land of Alba, Scotland and her plant medicines and fungi as well as plant medicines from other lands, have initiated her over and over again through the journey of death and rebirth.
As a Cacao witch, Freya offers rites of passage ceremonies, grounding rituals, infuses Cacao with herbal medicine from Scotland, creates ceremonial cacao truffles in tune with the Celtic wheel of the year, shamanic Drum guided Womb meditations and journeys. Earth reconnection rituals to energetically anchor you to Mother Earth and Embodiment practices to activate intuitive voice.
Freya weaves mother earths medicine, energies from the Celtic wheel of the year and folklore from Scotland into her ceremonies with Cacao. Freya lives on her ancestral land in Perthshire, Scotland, where she tends daily to the fires of remembrance of belonging to the land and earth.
Freya drinks Ceremonial Cacao in ritual with the earth, brewing Cacao on her outdoor stove on her land. Tuning in with herself and the medicine of Cacao to meet what is present and to be of service, led from the heart, rooted in the earth.

CACAO ALCHEMY Creating your cup of Ceremonial Cacao
Prepare your Cacao.
Make it a ritual to intentionally prepare and commune with the spirit of Cacao.
Cleanse the space with sacred herbs, native to your land or lovingly and respectfully collected by yourself, activating our relationship to earth in sacred reciprocity. Personal favourite herbs of mine to connect with Cacao are; Mugwort (Artemisia Vulgaris), Cedar, Mint, Lavender and Rosemary.
The preparation of Cacao is a sacred ritual in itself, the ceremony starts here as you connect with the medicine and spirit of Cacao with love and intention. As you chop the Cacao ask the spirit to be present with you and give you what you need in this moment. Give thanks for your willingness to receive. Focus inwards and allow your intuition to guide you and receive messages from your heart. You can hum, sing, chant, dance and vocalise to connect with her spirit while you prepare.
Gently chop Cacao while playing sacred music to her, or humming, vocalising, singing to her.
Blooming Heart Rose Cacao Recipe
If you don´t have Freya´s or other Rose Elixir, you can brew a tea with of rose petals, strain and use as your liquid base for Cacao or alternatively add Rose Water or Powder.
- Ceremonial dose of Cacao (20-35g) chopped or shaved finely, my personal preference is to work with Keiths Cacao.
- One cup of warm (not boiling) spring water
- a teaspoon of local blossom Honey
- Pinch of Cinnamon, Nutmeg and vanilla bean paste
- Three drops of my handmade Rose Elixir
- One teaspoon of powdered Rose petals
Warm (do not overheat) spring water in a pan add in spices, Elixir, rose powder, and honey.
Stir gently adding in Ceremonial Cacao until mixed. Transfer into a small blender and blend together to create delicious frothy silky Cacao.
Pour into favour favourite mug, adorn with dried Rose petals
Guided Root Chakra Meditation
WELCOME TO THIS ROOTING INTO EARTH GROUNDING MEDITATION
This is a reading meditation, read it slowly and follow the instructions. You can also record yourself reading the meditation out loud (with your phone for example) and listen to it.
Begin by sitting on the Earth. Sit up straight, with your chin up. Wiggle and shake out any tension.
[Now, close your eyes.]
We will use the eight count breathing technique. Inhale through your nose for 8 counts, hold the breath for eight counts, exhale the breath for eight counts, and hold again for eight counts.
Let’s Begin:
Inhale through the nose…
Hold…
Exhale…
Hold…
As you breathe in and out, allow your body to RELAX. Notice where there is tension and breathe into those areas of your body. Release the tension with your breath. Take in another breath now, hold it and this time let it out in an audible sigh.
Now, feel your weight on the earth.
Notice how your weight is distributed over all the points of contact with the Earth. Left and right, front and back, insides and outsides.
Gently return your attention to your breath.
Continue breathing consciously.
Anytime you feel yourself pulling away from the meditation, return your attention to your breath.
Visualize each breath as it enters your body. Imagine it filling you up down into your legs and out through your feet. Imagine your breath is like the roots of a tree digging into the soil.
Let your breath find it’s way through the cool topsoil passed the worms and other creatures. Visualize it as it continue down into the Earth.
Past the bones of our ancestors, down, down, deeper into the earth, through the bedrock, through the underground caverns and rivers and lakes, growing and pushing down, down, down. And as your breath roots deep into the Earth, it spreads wide as well. Like the tendrils of a tree, seeking the warm heart nourishment of the Earth.
Now your roots have entered the fiery core of Mother Earth, and you are now grounded into the Earth through your breath and meditation.
Let your roots take up residence in a wide circle, touching this heat, letting it warm them. Feel the channel between you and the Earth opening.
Now is the time to release.
Send with your breath anything that doesn’t serve you. Breathe it down to the fiery cauldron of the Earth. Mother Earth will transform it and return it to you when it will help you again. Release all of your troubles, all of your worries, all of your fears to Her and be free.
Exchange your energy.
Notice the immense pressure at the core of the Earth. This pressure will send the Earth Energy up to you, when you allow your rootlets to open to it. Do so now. Let the Earth Energy flow in through your rootlets, effortlessly. Let it move up, up, up through the reaches of your root system. Moving up through the underground waters, up through the bedrock, up past the bones of our ancestors, up through the rich topsoil, and right up into the soles of your feet.
This fiery energy keeps rising. All you need to do is sit there and open to it. Open yourself up to the rising Earth Energy. It rises on its own, up through your legs, filling them with energy. Up through your Root Chakra, filling it and overflowing into your Sacral Chakra, filling it and overflowing into your Solar Plexus Chakra filling it.
As you’re grounding, keep your meditative breathing. Feel the energy rising. And it keeps filling you up, more and more and more, the energy field around your body filled with this power. And still it keeps increasing until you feel full like a stretched balloon with this intense expansion of energy.
This fiery Earth Energy continues flowing up, up, up filling your Heart Chakra and your entire torso, your shoulders. The heat relaxes and energizes as it fills the muscles. It spills down your arms, into your hands and right through to your fingertips. It flows up through your Throat Chakra, filling it and overflowing and filling your entire head with brilliant energy. It fills your Third Eye Chakra, and continues flowing up to the top of your head where it fills your Crown Chakra too.
Now let this Earth Energy fly out through the top of your head, through your Crown Chakra, high into the sky, where it touches the stars and mingles with their light, spreading out like leafy branches into the sky.
You are now rooted deep in the earth, grounded and held.
Breathe into this beautiful connection from you to mother earth for a few more inhales and exhales.
Feel a deep sense of safety and peace here.
You are a child of mother earth always and forever connected to her, Gaia will always hold you in unconditional love and presence.
Feeling deeply rooted in the earth,
Gently place your hands on either side of your body, touching the ground with flat palms. Give deep thanks for such abundance, for the gift of life and nourishment that mother earth gives us. offer any extra energy that you don’t need, back to the Earth.
When you are ready, slowly return your awareness to your surroundings.
Listen to the bird song, stroke the earth with your fingertips, feel a soft breeze on your skin.
Begin to wiggle your toes and your fingers. Smell the scents, feel the air and the earth.
And when you are ready slowly open your eyes and allow your environment to come into focus.
Gently casting an unfocused gaze at your surroundings, drinking in what unfolds before you. Feeling a deep connection to yourself and the earth.
Go now and be deeply rooted.
